Imperfection in progress...
Connection has always been a core value for me. Sometimes the most meaningful connections come from the most unexpected places.
A dandelion … spreads seeds which travel to unexpected places to create more dandelions.
I believe that meaning can be found in so many places; in relationships, in thoughts, and even in images or photos that surface our memories. Meaning also changes drastically from individual to individual, but has the power to tap into emotion and elicit feelings within each of us. Emotions and feelings are what create connection. Connection with people, places, and things.
When choosing my logo, I struggled to find a visual that captured the essence of my offering and my passion... helping others express their "meaningful" and create connection.
I began this serendipitous logo journey with a heart. Simple, I know, but I wanted to share my business’s focus around “getting to the heart” of things. However, I continued to have the feeling that the heart was not right for me and my brand, I decided to dedicate some of my time and energy to find it.
In June and July of 2018, I played with all kinds of visuals that I thought could represent my brand. From suns to moons to yin and yang I designed and redesigned mockups but it all felt forced. One night, fed up from the struggle, I surrendered, asking the universe to give me a sign while I was sleeping as to what my logo should be, to reveal an image that would represent me as a business.
The next morning when I woke up, opened one eye, then the other… and was disappointed that I had no new inspiration or answer to my brand.
Throughout that day, I received seven different signs - each pointing me in the direction of the DANDELION. The dandelion images appeared to me in my house, in unrelated internet searches, on a zoom call and even in the presence of a friend coming to my door to drop off a gift she had bought for me - a mug with a painted dandelion.
I was shocked and inspired to go back to work on my brand with my newfound revelation. Designing my business name, I lingered on one particular font that had caught my eye a few times while I was working on other projects as something that I wanted to use for my own branding. The font’s name? Dandelion.
To me, dandelions represent exploration, discovery, and growth. Dandelions have seeds that journey to new, unknown places where they land and plant new seeds. I believe that the journey of the dandelion is a metaphor for the businesses of my clients. You may not know where the seeds, the small beginnings of your business, are going initially, but they do represent a journey of new beginnings and growth.
I want my clients to view the dandelion as a pathway to possibilities and success! You may not be able to foresee where the seeds of your effort are going, or what connections will arise from your work, but rather you must explore, discover, and trust the process.
Meaningful Expressions has become my outlet for doing what I love - creating. My passion in this business is to be able to have the ability to pull out the meaning behind someone’s business or purpose. I love what I do because I get to help others go deep into discovering their passion and how they want to express themselves - something we don't often do in the field of business because it involves vulnerability and being human out loud.
Meaningful Expressions is here to guide you on your journey through the creation of creative materials that will elevate your business to a new level and create connections with your ideal audience.
Let’s explore the possibilities together!
